Ganz ehrlich: Die ganz große Euphorie ist noch nicht da. Ich fühle mich etwas erschlagen. Von den vielen neuen Eindrücken. Der Hitze und Müdigkeit. Der plötzlichen Integration in eine (aber wirklich sehr freundliche) Familie, deren Sprache ich nicht spreche. Einfach von dem komplett neuen Umfeld, in dem ich mich nun befinde. Der Reihe nach. Die Fahrt heute früh um sechs vom Flughafen in meine neue Heimatstadt Moshi war verheißungsvoll. Aus kargen, gelbfarbenen Landschaften wurden schnell satte, grüne Felder. In Moshi erwartete mich Adelina. Sie ist 26 Jahre jung, supernett und die lokale Ansprechpartnerin der Organisation World Unite, die mich hierher vermittelt hat. Mit Adelia fuhr ich zu meiner Gastfamilie. Diese erfuhr erst gestern von ihrem Glück – die ursprünglich vorgesehene Familie nimmt nur Mädchen, was offenbar erst gestern beim Reminder auffiel. Egal, bei Nahida (29), Mohamed (31) und ihrer Tochter Junaissai (4) habe ich es sehr gut getroffen. Sie bemühen sich sehr um mich, ihr Haus (liegt außerhalb Moshis Zentrum) und mein Zimmer sind sehr groß und komfortabel. Danach zeigte mir Adelina die Stadt. Dafür fuhren wir mit dem notorisch völlig überfüllten Daladala, dem lokalen Kleinbus-Sammeltaxi, für den Standardpreis von 300 Schilling/Person (etwa 15 Cent) ins Zentrum. Dort ging’s zu Fuß weiter. Moshis Zentrum ist verhältnismäßig modern, finde ich, und geschäftig. Lädchen reiht sich an Lädchen, Straßenhändler an Straßenhändler. Nach einer Citytour stellte ich mich kurz persönlich bei NAFGEM, dem lokalen Netzwerk gegen Genitalverstümmelung bei Frauen und Mädchen, vor. Der Leiter heißt Francis und ist die Herzlichkeit in Person. Das wird bestimmt sehr angenehm! Morgen früh um neun Uhr geht es los. Die Arbeitszeit ist frei gestaltbar, darüber beschwere ich mich natürlich nicht. Den Rest des Tages habe ich zuhause verbracht, viel geschlafen und “dazwischen” lecker gegessen. Erst gab es nachmittags Kartoffeln mit Blumenkohl, abends dann Reis mit Erbsensoße, dazu ein vegetarisches fritiertes Gebäck und Wassermelone. Ach ja: Um unbekannten Tieren auf meinem Teller aus dem Weg zu gehen, wollte ich eigentlich erzählen, ich sei Vegetarier. Habe ich mich dann doch nicht getraut, zu lügen. Bisher ist’s gut gegangen…
Ins Waisenhaus, wo ich mich den “Fußballkindern” vorstelle, fahren Adelina und ich erst morgen Nachmittag. Das Tuleeni Orphans Centre liegt recht weit außerhalb der Stadt; ein Fahrradkauf ist jedoch keine wirkliche Alternative: 1. zu heiß, ich würde 2. niemals wieder heim finden und wüsste 3. auch nicht, wo ich das Fahrrad diebstahlsicher abstellen könnte.
Auch wenn das jetzt alles überwiegend positiv klingt, fällt mein erstes Fazit dennoch durchwachsen aus. Es ist mental sehr anstregend, soviele neue und vor allem völlig fremdartige Eindrücke zu verarbeiten. Dazu ist die Armut offensichtlich, und als Mzungu, Weißer, gilt man automatisch als unermesslich reich. Ein Bettler hat mich heute sogar mit seinem Unterarmstumpf angestupst. Wie er seine Hand verloren hat, weiß ich nicht… Die Kommunikationsprobleme sind gravierend, das belastet mich schon. Es ist eben nicht damit getan, sich vorab ein paar Kisuaheli-Vokabeln aufzuschreiben. Zum Glück sprechen viele Menschen Englisch. Dazu nerven mich gerade die Hitze, der erste Moskitostich und Probleme mit dem Fotoapparat. Aber das wird schon.

Hey Olaf, das hört sich alles ganz toll an ! Genauso erging es mir in Uganda damals. Was unheimlich geholfen hat, war die weise entscheidung im Gym einzutreten. Dort findest Du ganz schnell Kontakt zu anderen Mzungus. Es ist einfach mal zwischendurch ganz schön mit anderen Europäern sich auszutauschen. Sonst auch ruhig mal bei der Deutschen Botschaft auf die Seite gucken, die manchmal n BBQ o.ä. machen.
