Was für ein wundervoller Sonntag. Meine beiden Erfolgserlebnisse gestern haben den eher frustrierenden Samstag mit der geplatzten Kilimanjaro-Wanderung mehr als wettgemacht.
Nachdem ich das erste Mal überhaupt ausschlafen konnte, ein tolles Frühstück mit Sandwiches, Omelett und Gebäck serviert bekam und morgens keinerlei Verpflichtungen hatte, fuhr ich in die Stadt. Dort stieß ich mehr zufällig auf ein Internet-Cafe, das über eine sensationelle Verbindung verfügt. Selbst Skype mit eingeschaltetem Bild klappte perfekt. Ein Traum.
Denn sonst ist mein Alltag hier geprägt von Stromausfall, extrem langsamen oder gar nicht funktionierenden Internetverbindungen und Ladezeiten, die jeder Beschreibung spotten. Das Anhängen von Texten oder 1MB-Bildern ist oft eine schier unüberwindbare Hürde und frisst mehr Zeit und Energie als ein Marathonlauf.
Und so erklärt sich, warum ich einen Zwei-Stunden-Aufenthalt in einem abgedunkelten Internet-Café mit Fug und Recht zu einem “Erfolgserlebnis” hochjubele. Endlich funktioniert mal was “ganz normal”.
Für Außenstehende ist das zweite Erfolgserlebnis schon eher nachvollziehbar. Vom Internet-Café ging ich in das Schwimmbad des YMCA Moshi. Dort aalte ich mit Marei und Lisa, zwei überaus freundlichen und lustigen Volunteers aus den nordrhein-westfälischen Millionen-Metropolen Radevormwald und Hückelhoven, bis zum Sonnenuntergang am Pool. Wir quatschten, planten Ausflüge, verwöhnten uns mit Kaffee und Kuchen und schwammen auch ein paar Bahnen, allerdings im Oma-morgens-um-sieben-im-Hallenbad-Brustschwimm-Stil, um weitertratschen zu können. Herrlich. Zuhause habe ich dann noch das Buch “Die Zahl der Toten” von Linda Castillo zuende gelesen, das den ziemlich verworrenen Nele-Neuhaus-Schinken “Mordsfreunde” deutlich geschlagen hat. Da ich nur diese beiden Bücher mitgenommen habe, gehe ich die Tage in die lokale Bücherei, um nach neuem Lesestoff Ausschau zu halten.
Heute hat der Arbeitstag mit einer kleinen Sporteinheit begonnen. Darum hatte mich der NAFGEM-Chef unvermittelt gebeten. Ich habe die Kollegen das gelehrt, was ich als Einziges beim Yoga halbwegs beherrsche: den Baum. Ihr seht, hier geht es bei allem Ernst, den das Thema Genitalverstümmelung gebietet, auch lustig zu. Wir haben viel Spaß miteinander, ich werde bestens mit Kaffee versorgt und jeden Tag ist jemand Anderes an der Reihe, Leckereien zu spendieren. “Dazwischen” planen wir Veranstaltungen wie Aufklärungs-Workshops und -Camps zum Thema Genitalverstümmelung, machen uns Gedanken über Sponsoren-Akquise und über lokales Networking oder bereiten Informationen über dieses komplexe Thema verständlich auf. Mal für “die westliche Welt”, mal für die Menschen vor Ort, die über die fatalen Folgen der Genitalverstümmelung aufgeklärt werden sollen.
Wie der heutige Tag enden wird, weiß ich auch schon: mit meiner ersten Unterrichtseinheit in Kisuaheli. Ich habe beschlossen, für die restliche Zeit in Tansania jeweils an zwei Abenden in der Woche (Montag und Mittwoch) Sprachunterricht zu nehmen. Die Gelegenheit dafür kommt sobald nicht wieder, und ich empfinde es (ohne an die Integrationsdebatte in Deutschland anknüpfen zu wollen, Gott bewahre) auch als Zeichen von Respekt meinen Gastgebern gegenüber, wenn ich mich bemühe, ihre Sprache zu lernen. Weil ich dienstags und donnerstags Fußball spiele, ist die Woche damit voll und ich komme erledigt heim. Das ist auch gut so. Denn die Alternative dazu ist, nach dem Abendbrot in meinem Zimmer auf dem Bett zu liegen und zu lesen oder (in glücklichen Momenten) im Internet zu surfen. Nur: Dafür muss man nicht nach Tansania fliegen. Dann schon lieber Sprachunterricht.
Radevormwald. Vorgestern noch bin ich an der Autonahnausfahrt vorbei gefahren und habe in mich reingegrinst. Nun erfahre ich über den Umweg Tansania, dass da tatsächlich jemand wohnt… die Welt ist klein.
